INFECTED SCROTAL HEMATOMA : POST ORCHIDECTOMY

A 40 year old gentleman presented to us with scrotal swelling with sinus oozing foul smelling yellowish pus.
He had undergone left orchidectomy for ? epididymo-orchitis with abscess 1 month back. He didn't have any comorbidties; we evaluted the pus for any AFB thinking the sinus and previous pathology must be a missed genitourinary tuberculosis. But pus was negative for AFB. He was taken up for scrotal exploration. There was infected granulation tissue and a linen thread used for spermatic cord ligation.

INFECTED GRANULATION TISSUE

INFECTED LINEN LIGATURE : THE CAUSE OF THE SINUS( ACTING LIKE A FOREIGN BODY)

EVACUATION OF THE HEMISCROTAL CAVITY
The hemiscrotal cavity was evacuated of all infected tissue and the thread was removed. After the procedure ample irrigation of cavity done and the wound was left for healing with secondary intention.
